Gypsy Bazaar’s mission is to create an ethical place for people to buy handmade jewelry and accessories from under developed countries around the world. Each purchase helps the artisans out of poverty; changing their lives, the lives of their children, and their community.

MY STORY

My first entrepreneurship, Lauren’s Jewelry & Accessories, began in 2004 after many years of working in sales. Creating and bringing a boutique to people’s homes for them to shop was something I loved to do, as it created a space for family and friends to come together and find great gifts for great prices.  However, as much as I loved creating this space, I felt disconnected from what I was selling. I decided to close the business and I spent many years raising my boys and teaching yoga. Through those experiences I cultivated a deeper connection to not only myself, but to the world around me. I began learning about Fair Trade and how it helped to support communities in developing countries. I became inspired by that mission, wanted to get involved, and to give back. I wanted to teach my young boys about conscious buying, and to think about where their items come from. I wanted to share the idea of how a single purchase of a piece of jewelry through Fair Trade could potentially transform a life.

In 2019, Gypsy Bazaar was born! Gypsy Bazaar features a unique collection of raw and recycled hand-crafted jewelry and accessories made by skilled artisans from India, Bali, Nepal, Thailand, and more. Each product supports Fair Trade practices and sustainability. Gypsy Bazaar allows me to continue my initial vision of creating a space for family and friends to come together, but to now connect those people to a community that contributes to something much bigger.

My hope is to bring awareness to how a single purchase can change the lives of these artisans by helping them out of poverty, creating a better life for their children, and strengthening their community.
